nand thencto create a new stockpile
Stockpiles are groups of panels you can define where your characters will store goods. Characters are aware of all of the stockpiles they personally have access to, and all of the stockpiles assigned to organisations they are a part of.
Characters can only haul to a stockpile. When crafting or gathering, characters will only check for tools or ingredients from their current inventory and stockpiles.
When creating a new stockpile, it will start out as a personal stockpile. This means that only the character you are currently controlling will use it as a stockpile. The stockpile will still be off limits to other characters, and they will get a warning that stealing from it will be counted as a crime.
Stockpiles can be assigned to an organisation by the organisation admin. They will then be useable and viewable by all organisation members.
By default, stockpiles will accept all goods. You can filter this by selecting the Allowed resources option in the zone detail page and pressing spacebar. You can filter by resource type by deselecting or selecting resource types in the left hand menu. Or you can filter within resources in the right hand menu. The left hand menu selections overwrite the right hand menu selections, so if you have deselected all armour types but still have the armour stockpile selected, armour can still be stored in that stockiple.
Note that characters can still be manually instructed to drop off items in a stockpile that do not match the stockpile filter options in the same way they can drop items anywhere. When this is done, characters will still collect those items to craft with if they notice them on the location whilst looking for ingredients, but they will not travel from neighbouring locations just to check that stockpile.
A stockpile doesn't really exist in the game before its location has been set. Stockpiles cannot be set to overlap each other.
Using stockpiles to reserve or block off space from other players is considered griefing. If you find a player doing this in the game, please report it on the discord.
Stockpiles are interacted with by a few different orders. Stockpiles are checked no matter how far away they are from the character attempting to follow an order, so it is important to be careful not to have your organisations too broadly defined. For example, if you have two settlements a long way from each other under one organisation, you risk wasting a lot of time and possibly putting your characters at risk as they will run back and forth between the two settlements to check for the items they need to fulfill their orders.
When hauling, you will be asked to choose a stockpile to haul to. Characters will do their best to carry goods from the selected areas to the selected stockpile. They will carry goods over different locations to the best of their ability. Once the stockpile is filled up, the character will cancel the order and be left holding the last item they hauled. Be sure to drop off items at an overflow stockpile if you are planning to run a haul order for a long time.
When crafting, characters will try to fetch the items from one of the stockpiles they have access to. They will first check all stockpiles in their current location for ingredients. If they don't find any, they will check if stockpiles in other locations can store the ingredient they're looking for. If it does, they will attempt to go and check if there are any ingredients stored in it, and bring them back to where they're crafting. They will cancel the order if they cannot reach a stockpile they want to check (for example at night). They will also happily put themselves in danger to collect from a stockpile if you don't have the shelter order enabled or if you are currently under siege from a rival player.
When gathering, if a character does not have the necessary tool equipped they will check stockpiles for the tool and fetch it if there is one there. They will check local stockpiles first before checking stockpiles in other areas.
If a characeter is hungry, they will check stockpiles in their current location for edible food. They will fetch and eat the food if they find any. The eating order overrides other orders, so the character will stop whatever they were doing to eat when they become hungry.
Unlike other orders, characters only check stockpiles in their current location when looking for food
